$100,000 + design and installation

This project was part of a large-scale renovation of the client’s basement living areas. The ultimate goal was to produce a state of the art lounge and theatre area for entertaining guests, especially during HD sports broadcasts. The homeowner also asked for central distribution of a significant DVD and music collection.

After careful consideration of the client’s wish list, it was decided to concentrate on providing a pure entertainment environment utilizing the most sophisticated equipment available, while maintaining tight control on the budget.

A dream installation for both the movie buff and sports fanatic:

  • 1080p DLP projector

  • two rows of custom leather theatre seating

  • 7.2 surround sound system

  • HD personal video recorder

  • 2 Zone, 14 Terabyte Audio/Video Server capable of storing the vast movie and music collection on an uncompressed hard-drive system.

  • 3 HD personal video recorders

  • 2 Kaleidescape DVD/CD players with a dedicated Kaleidescape server capable of storing the vast movie and music collection on an uncompressed hard-drive system.

  • 3 LCD flat screens above the bar

  • 50” LCD mounted above the fireplace

  • Total automation control from any remote or touch panel.

  • Audio, video and lighting in the theatre room are all controlled via a single remote.

  • Simple, single button pre-programming that lets even the youngest child operate the movie system.

  • Flat screen televisions, projector and screen are precisely fitted within the custom cabinetry.

  • All the systems are e-controlled allowing the client to monitor and control the entire installation remotely via the internet.

Fulfilling the client’s wishes, all electronic components, aside from the touch pads theatre screen, and televisions, are hidden from view. Subsequent to the initial installation, the homeowner has upgraded the rack and video server, expanding the system’s capabilities. The upgrade was easily achieved, adding extra input jacks to the central rack, and increasing the capabilities in both the bar and theatre zones, all without any additional wiring.
